Westward Ho! , where the famous author Charles Kingsley lived, is a Victorian town with a long beach and pebble ridge stretching to the mouth of the Taw Torridge estuary.

Modern apartments now built facing the sea, but still popular as a family resort with camp sites and caravan sites, as well as amusements.

Excellent walks along the coast towards the Northam Burrows Country Park and the Royal North Devon Golf Course.

Beach exists at low tide as the Pebble Ridge runs along the top of the beach.
